Date: 8/1/2009 Kay Meyer, Zonta Foothills Club member and Zonta District 12 Lt. Governor, authored ”Human Rights Treaties”, an article in the May-June 2009 issue of the ICOSA Magazine. The article explores the conflict between human rights treaties and global economics, the role of local action in the passage of international human rights treaties such as CEDAW (The Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women) and Zonta’s role in urging the United States to adopt the Convention.

Date: 3/10/2008 Zonta Foothills Club, along with other Colorado Zontians, were at the forefront in urging the successful passage of a Colorado Legislature Joint Resolution supporting the passage of CEDAW (The U.N. Convention on the Eliminiation of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women)by the U.S. Congress. THE U.S. is one of only eight countries that have not passed the Convention.
